A hard piece to part with, this beautiful old French baguette slicer was made by Au Nain Couteliers, a small company in Saint Rémy sur Durolle, the traditional cutlery region in central France. A long serrated knife with handle is attached to a wonderfully worn wood and brass base. The blade measures 12-inches long, with a full measurement of 16 3/4-inches including the handle. It's the sort of thing we don't come across often, although we promise to keep our eyes peeled for others similar to this gem.
