Daphnis and Chloe Greek Mountain Tea

Daphnis and Chloe Greek Mountain Tea

The fragrant infusion made from this Greek mountain herb (also known as Shepherd’s tea or Ironworth) is beloved in the mountainous areas of Greece because of the anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, and anti-oxidant properties it is believed to offer. According to rural legend, this tea contributes to the health and vibrancy of the long-lived Cretans and Ikarians. Daphnis and Chloe source this particular variety from an organic grower on Mount Orthrys.

The tea has a gentle aroma reminiscent of sage, with traces of misty pine forest and earth. To prepare it, steep about a tablespoon of leaves for 3–5 minutes in water just shy of boiling. Its flavor is well accented by a spoon of honey or a few drops of lemon.

Daphnis and Chloe source hand-picked herbs from Greek farmers and foragers who run small and seasonal operations. Quantities are limited across all Daphnis and Chloe products, depending on how much each forager or producer is able to deliver.

This tea will keep well for about a year if stored in a dark and dry place.
