Pott 33 Flatware

We encountered this remarkable flatware at a friend's dinner party on New Year's. Each place setting featured pieces from their 20-year old set of Pott 33. It was the five-tined fork which charmed us, and our fascination spread from there. The fork and knife are solid and heavy in hand, having aged beautifully. The restrained contemporary form of each piece is informed by the Bauhaus tradition. The wide design of the fork allows for scooping food covered with sauces and twirling thick pastas. There is a subtle, horizontal stroke at the base of each handle, a nod to the material and craft - a simple tap that connects the hand of the diner with the maker. Each set is made in Mettmann, Germany of 18/10 stainless steel.
Design: Carl Pott, 1975
Care: Pott 33 is dishwasher safe, but high grade stainless steel retains it's luster for longer if hand-washed.
